Royals Serious About Hunter

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

The Royals have put Torii Hunter at the top of their list this off season and are willing to wait for a decision. However, the White Sox and Rangers are pressing for one so he might be pressured to pick one sooner than he wants. It is probably hard to lure a big time free agent like Hunter to Kansas City, but they still have hope. “I can’t comment on any specific situation,” Royals general manager Dayton Moore said, “but we’re willing to look into any situation that makes our club better.” Hunter is likely to get a five year deal, worth about 85-90 million dollars, and I think he would commit to a team that offered six, which no team has yet to do. Hunter batted .287 with 28 HR, 107 RBI, and 18 SB, and is expected to make a decision sometime next week.
