Orioles Interested In Burnett?

Friday, November 9, 2007

The Orioles are on the verge of rebuilding, and it might start with a trade to land pitcher A.J. Burnett. Although the Blue Jays are not usually for trading in the division, the Orioles have always been interested in Burnett, and would love to add him while he is available. Burnett has been very consistent playing in the AL East, and would probably be very similar with the Orioles. He put up 10 wins with a 3.75 ERA, but is 2-0 with a 4.43 ERA in three games at the Camden Yards. Burnett can opt out of his contract after next season, the Orioles probably would not have to sacrifice as much. An interesting idea would be to see them trade Ramon Hernandez. The Blue Jays have Greg Zaun currently at the spot and Hernandez would definitely be an upgrade. Andy McPhail has been in baseball for a long time, and plans to be very aggressive this year for the Orioles. I expect him to make some major changes.
